“It’s always been this way…” or “That’s just the way it is…” are the laziest excuses for not doing the work. I’m sorry if this sounds a little harsh—especially because I know that trauma has a particularly insidious way of putting us in a state where we can’t access our depths in safety. I understand that it takes (self-)patience, (self-)compassion, and safety that not all of us are afforded in order to get to a place of open-minded curiosity about one’s own shadow patterns.

Doing this kind of shame healing work takes courage and guts, and friend, you are doing amazingly! I just wanted to start today’s piece with honoring you for what you’ve set out to do here.

Today, I’ve come armed with some of the most common (and dangerous) myths about menstrual health AND the tools to smash them. In the last session, we laid bare where the gross misinformation comes from—centuries of misogyny and patriarchy and religious indoctrination—and so now we examine the ugly results of all that conditioning. Because virtually everything you think you know about your period and menstrual cycle is wrong.
